BBL Phototherapy in Chicago, IL

FreshSkin offers BBL Phototherapy to help rejuvenate skin for the residents of Chicago, Evanston and the surrounding communities in Illinois.

What is BBL Phototherapy?

BBL Phototherapy is a dynamic new way to reduce the visible signs of skin damage. It is a non-invasive procedure that is becoming increasingly popular with men and women.

BBL Phototherapy uses broadband light to target areas that have been damaged by the sun. A filter is used to deliver precisely the right pulse of light to these areas. This broadband light is effective at treating a number of disorders including discolorations, uneven textures, broken blood vessels, enlarged pores, and wrinkles.

How does BBL Phototherapy work?

This procedure works by heating up the top layers of skin that have been damaged, thereby removing superficial damage. While doing so, the heat from the broadband device heats deep layers of tissue, thereby helping to promote collagen growth.

How is this procedure performed?

BBL Phototherapy is performed on an outpatient basis. A session begins with a technician cleansing the skin; a topical anesthetic may sometimes be applied as well. Next, the patient will be given protective goggles and placed on an examining table. The physician will then use a light wand to target specific areas of the face and body. The amount of time it takes to complete a treatment varies based upon the area treated, but most of the time it takes less than 30 minutes.

What areas can be treated?

Any area of the body can be treated, but this procedure is most often used on the face, neck, chest, shoulders and hands.

What do patients feel during a session?

Most people notice only moderate discomfort in the way of a warm or tingling sensation in the area where light is applied.

What is the recovery period like?

While patients can resume normal activities immediately after having BBL Phototherapy, they may nonetheless be more sensitive to sunlight for a few days. Direct sun exposure is not recommended during this time. There may also be some initial redness and swelling that usually subsides after a few hours.

When will results be noticed?

Most people report noticing results as soon as any redness or swelling dissipates.

Are multiple treatments necessary?

This will depend on the severity of sun damage. Patients could need as many as five treatments, with each one being spaced two to four weeks apart.

Who should not consider BBL Phototherapy?

Dark skinned individuals should not undergo BBL Phototherapy. This is because the pigments in their skin may absorb more broadband light than necessary, and this can lead to a loss of pigmentation. People who are especially sensitive to sunlight or taking medications that increase sunlight sensitivity should also forego treatment.

Sun lovers no longer have to live with damaged skin thanks to BBL Phototherapy. This procedure can be a safe and effective way to remove sun damage and restore that youthful luster to the skin.
